Your Seaside Holiday Home Near the New £100m Eden Project
Date: 12/06/25

Right now, if you wanted to visit the Eden Project in Cornwall from your seaside holiday home at Morecambe Lodge, you’d have to drive 360 miles each way – which rather goes against the eco-friendly spirit of the landmark attraction. But the great news is that that is all about to change…
The brand-new Eden Project Morecambe is going to be built, not 360 miles from your seaside holiday home, but just 3½ miles away! So close, you could cycle there. Now that really is environmentally friendly!
Eden Project Morecambe
The Eden Project Morecambe (formerly referred to as the Eden Project North) is an incredible new £100 million attraction that will combine exhibits, performances, learning, immersive experiences, world-class horticulture and live music in one amazing venue.
And that venue is going to be right at the heart of Morecambe, on the site of the old Bubbles leisure complex, right on the seafront, within easy reach of the seaside holiday homes at Morecambe Lodge. As the team behind the project says, it will transform Morecambe into ‘a seaside resort for the 21st century, inspiring wonder and a connection with the natural world’.
Just like the famous Eden Project in Cornwall, the Morecambe attraction will feature three large domes, including the lushly planted Realm of the Sun and the dark mock-tidal rock pools of the Realm of the Moon. Together, they will bring Morecambe back to its classic motto: ‘Beauty Surrounds, Health Abounds’.
When is the Eden Project Morecambe opening?
The project has just received confirmation of £50 million in funding from the government, as part of the Levelling-Up Fund from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. This covers half of the estimated £100 million cost of the project, with the rest coming from private investors and commercial partners.
Some of that money has already been used to appoint a new Project Director, John Pye, who has spent the last nine years as Head of Estates North at the Royal Horticultural Society. The project has also formally engaged the services of WSP Consultants and architects Grimshaw, who led the design team for the original Eden Project.
With the funding confirmed, the project is now on schedule to open in October 2028. To stay right up to date as the project progresses, you can register for the Eden Project email newsletter.
