Cut the Cost of Kennels With a Pet Friendly Caravan Park
Date: 19/06/25

They say that Britain is a nation of dog lovers, and they’re not wrong. A new study by the University of Leeds says that there are over 13 million dogs in the UK - which is four million more than previously thought. According to UK Pet Food, around 60% of households have a four legged friend, and more than half of those are dogs.
If you’re a dog owner, you’ll understand why. There are loads of benefits of owning a dog, from companionship to home security, from getting you outside for some exercise to socialising with other dog owners. Dogs are called ‘man’s best friend’ for a reason!
The cost of caring for your canine
Of course, as most dog owners are all too aware, there is another side to owning a dog, and that is the cost. Figures from Statista show that the average cost of caring for a dog is £1,934 per year, including food, grooming, veterinary care and more, adding up to over £20,000 over the average life of a dog.
One of the biggest expenses of dog ownership is the cost of kennels when you go away on holiday. With kennels costing between £25 and £30 per night, per dog, just a week’s holiday can easily set you back £200 or more, and that’s before you even set off!
With a quarter of dog owners owning more than one dog, that figure quickly doubles, or more, every time you go away. Even a short weekend break can cost you three nights of kennels, adding £75 to the cost of your trip. That could be the difference between affording a break and having to stay home.
Last minute dot com?
The other problem with putting your dog in kennels while you go away, is finding availability. The better the kennels, the more popular they’ll be, and the more popular they are, the less likely they’ll be to have a space for your pooch at the last minute for that impromptu weekend away.
Even if you plan ahead, getting a space in the kennels during the summer, especially in the school holidays, means booking months in advance. All of which can easily drain the fun out of your getaway, making it expensive and awkward to organise.
Bring your dog to our pet friendly caravan park
Here at Morecambe Lodge, we welcome well behaved dogs on our pet friendly caravan park. We know how much you love to spend time with your dog, and how much you hate spending money on kennels, so we’re happy for you to bring them with you when you come to stay.
Pet friendly caravan parks like Morecambe Lodge not only make it easier for you to plan and afford a holiday break, they also mean you can be spontaneous, enjoying your holiday home whenever you want. Just pack up your puppy in the car and head off on holiday.
Just 50m from the beach
Morecambe Lodge is the perfect pet friendly caravan park because it’s situated just 50 metres from the beach, with miles of open sand for them to stretch their legs. We ask that dogs be kept on a lead around the park, but once they hit the beach, they can run all day and enjoy the kind of open space that they just don’t get at home. They can even jump in for a swim, which has huge health benefits, especially for older dogs.
Next month, we’ll take a closer look at the dog’s life here at Morecambe Lodge pet friendly caravan park. In the meantime, if you’d like to find out more about the park that welcomes your pet, just give us a call on 01524 824361, or book your visit online.
